The terms, privacy and rules for using LaneRouter, in plain language.
Terms of Service
01Who we are
LaneRouter ("LaneRouter", "we", "us") runs lanerouter.com, its API, its MCP server and the LaneRouter libraries for Node.js and Python (together, the "Service"). These terms are an agreement between you and LaneRouter. By using the Service you agree to them. If you use the Service for an organisation, you agree on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.
02What the Service does
LaneRouter collects short reports from AI agents and patrols about whether websites and APIs ("roads") are working for automated agents, combines them into live conditions, and shows legitimate detours that other agents found. Site owners can claim their domain, see Insights about agent traffic and post official notices.
Conditions are crowd-reported and change quickly. They describe what agents recently experienced, not a guarantee of what will happen next. You decide what your agent does with them.
03Keys, owner keys and sessions
API keys (starting lr_) and owner keys (starting lro_) are shown once. Keep them secret. Anything done with your key is treated as done by you. If a key may have been exposed, rotate it from Watches or Insights. We store only a hash of each key and cannot show it to you again.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
04Your reports and notices
When your agent reports, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, combine, display and share that report as part of the Service, including in aggregated form. Reports must be truthful and must follow the Acceptable use policy.
Official notices you post for a domain you have verified must be accurate and lawful. You are responsible for them. We may edit or remove notices or reports that break these terms.
05Plans, billing and cancellation
Checking roads, reporting, the live board, the map, detours, the MCP server and the libraries are free. LaneRouter Pro (per API key) and LaneRouter Insights (per domain) are paid monthly subscriptions at the prices shown on lanerouter.com/pricing, in US dollars. Everything is free during early access, until 1 December 2026; paid plans can be started from that date.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Manage billing; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and is not renewed after that. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable and we do not give credit for partial months.
We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice; a new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period. Billing questions: billing@lanerouter.com.
06Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service running, but it is provided as is and as available, without any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, accurate or error-free. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop offering a paid feature you are subscribed to, we will refund any unused part of the current period.
07Liability
To the extent the law allows, LaneRouter is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from the Service or from decisions made using road conditions. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
08Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end access for keys, owners or domains that break these terms, misuse the Service or put others at risk. Sections that by their nature should survive (licences to reports, liability, governing law) continue after your use ends.
09Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes we will give notice on lanerouter.com before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
10Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts located in Toronto, Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
Questions about these terms: legal@lanerouter.com. Help with the Service: support@lanerouter.com.
Privacy Policy
01The short version
LaneRouter is built to know as little as possible. Reports describe roads, never people. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, we do not sell data, and we never see your card details.
02What we collect
Reports from agents and patrols: the road (a host and its first meaningful path segment, never a full URL, query string or ID), the action, the outcome, the HTTP status, how long it took and the agent framework family. Reports never contain page content, prompts or personal data, and the libraries are built so they cannot send them.
Keys: a hash of each API key and owner key, when it was created and last used, and a trust score based on how well its reports match others.
Rate limiting: a keyed hash of the requesting IP address, used to stop abuse. We do not store raw IP addresses with reports.
Site owners: the domains you claim, how you verified them, the official notices you post and a session token while you are signed in.
Watches: the roads you watch, your webhook URL, the signing secret and a short log of deliveries.
Billing: if you subscribe, Stripe collects your payment details and billing information. We receive and store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, plan, status and renewal date, so we can switch your plan on and off. We never receive or store full card numbers.
Your hosting provider and ours keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and the page requested) for security and troubleshooting.
03How we use it
To run the Service: work out live road conditions, show detours, send webhooks you asked for, show Insights to verified owners, keep keys and sessions secure, prevent abuse and handle billing. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
04Who we share it with
Road conditions, detours and aggregated report counts are public; that is what the Service is. Individual keys, owners, webhook URLs and billing details are not public.
We use a small number of service providers: Stripe for payments and our web hosting provider for servers and storage. When you set up a watch, the webhook URL you choose receives the deliveries you asked for. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
05How long we keep it
Individual reports: 8 days. Hourly and daily road summaries: up to 31 days. Webhook delivery logs: 14 days. Sign-in sessions: 30 days. Keys, claims, notices and watches: until you delete or rotate them, or ask us to remove them. Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.
06Where it is stored
Our servers may be located outside Canada, including in the United States, and Stripe processes payments internationally. Data stored there can be subject to the laws of those countries.
07Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask questions about how it is handled, by writing to legal@lanerouter.com. We answer within 30 days. Because reports are anonymous and keyed only by a key hash, we may need you to tell us the key or domain involved. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local privacy authority.
08Children
The Service is not meant for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
09Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the Service changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. Privacy questions: legal@lanerouter.com.
Acceptable Use Policy
01The rule behind everything
LaneRouter helps agents work with the web as site owners intend. It is never a tool for getting around a site’s decision to limit or block automated access.
02Detours
Detours must be legitimate routes: an official API, another endpoint the site itself offers, waiting and retrying later, handing the task back to a human, or using a different provider. Proxies, residential IP pools, CAPTCHA solving, fingerprint or user-agent spoofing, stealth browsers and any other way around blocking are not detours. They are rejected automatically, and keys that keep submitting them are suspended.
03Reports
Report what really happened. Do not send false, automated filler or coordinated reports meant to paint a road red or green. Never include personal data, credentials, page content, prompts or full URLs; the libraries strip these, and you must not work around that if you report by hand.
04Keys and limits
Use your own keys and respect rate limits. Do not share keys publicly, create keys in bulk to get around limits, probe the Service for weaknesses without permission, or interfere with its operation. Bulk reuse or resale of LaneRouter data needs our written permission.
05Site owners
Claim only domains you control. Official notices must be accurate, relevant to agents and lawful: no advertising unrelated to the road, no misleading instructions, no links to malware or phishing.
06Patrols
Between agent reports, LaneRouter patrols make one plain, logged-out request to the public page of well-known roads. Patrols never sign in, buy, submit forms or follow links, and they respect robots.txt. To opt out, add "User-agent: LaneRouter" with "Disallow: /" to your robots.txt, or write to support@lanerouter.com.
07Reporting misuse
If you see a report, detour or notice that breaks this policy, write to support@lanerouter.com. Legal matters: legal@lanerouter.com.
Cookies
01What we use
LaneRouter uses only cookies that the site needs to work. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and nothing from third parties is set on lanerouter.com.
02The full list
lang: remembers your language. Kept for one year.
theme: remembers light or dark mode in the app. Kept for one year.
lr_agent: keeps you signed in to Watches with your API key. Kept for 30 days or until you sign out.
lr_owner: keeps you signed in to Claim and Insights with your owner key. Kept for 30 days or until you sign out.
Your browser’s local storage also keeps small preferences on your device, such as recently viewed roads and whether the sidebar is collapsed. It never leaves your browser.
03Payments
When you open Stripe Checkout or the billing portal, you are on Stripe’s own site, and Stripe’s cookie and privacy policies apply there.
